Autonomous Vehicle: Security by Design

Security of (semi)-autonomous vehicles is a growing concern, first, due to the increased exposure functionality potential attackers; second, reliance functionalities on diverse systems; third, interaction single-vehicle with myriads other smart systems in urban traffic infrastructure. Beyond these technical issues, we argue that security-by-design principle for and complex autonomous systems, such as an Autonomous Vehicle (AV) poorly understood rarely practiced. Unlike traditional IT where risk mitigation techniques adversarial models are well studied developed security design principles perimeter defense-in-depth, lack framework connected plaguing implementation secure AV.
